Price, Elizabeth (2018) BERLINWAL. .
Abstract
The artwork comprises a concertina booklet, modular seating and a 'revealed' view of an internal courtyard of the Berlin Natural History Museum (The courtyard was previously concealed from view with curtains). The courtyard is the site of a former gallery, built in 1933 to house a Whale skeleton and destroyed in 1944 by a fire bomb. In recent years the courtyard has been excavated in order to enable the installation of thermal heat well to power the heating and cooling systems of the Museum. In BERLINWAL, Price draws upon the interconnected social, cultural and natural histories of the Museum, its artefacts and its site.
