The trompe l'oeil works were developed after the 'inside inside outside' residency at Eastbury Manor Barking (see Repository entry for this), an Elizabethan Manor house situated n a 20th C housing estate which still contains fragments of painted fresco; and with reference to Norman Bryson's work in "Looking at the Overlooked' on Roman wall painting and 'enframing'. The works are made with cheap synthetic or household materials and form part of the enquiry into the revival of the decorative in contemporary art.
