Additional Information: | Five 5-minute primetime programmes for the 'New Directors' Slot shown at 7.55 p.m. week nights with an audience of up to 3 million, on Channel 4. (1) 2 programmes for the 'Lit Pop' poetry series, October 1998 called 'A Prophesy' and 'To my Feet'. Technically innovative films combining many incongruous elements - animation (lo-fi made on home computer) with performed and/or documentary sequences. (2) 3 programmes for the 'Per4mance' dance/performance series, August 1999 called 'Loose in Flight', 'Khooyile' and 'My Husband is a Spaceman' combining animation and performed/stage elements. The challenge of these projects was to bring high art to a mainstream audience on a low budget through technical and artistic innovation. Davies was responsible for creative origination, direction, camera work, animation and editing. Davies used many editing and cinematographic decisions that went against the grain of conventional film-making. Additional Distribution: 'Loose in Flight' was chosen for the British Council International Touring Collection '100 Years of British Dance on Screen' 2001. 'Loose in Flight' and 'Khooyile' were shown in 'No Male Egos' at the Royal Festival Hall October 2000 'Loose in Flight' currently showing in Akram Khan's year long international tour in Canada, Europe and Asia 2001. |
