Abstract
Our project uses e-learning technologies to develop reflexive strategies to supplement, extend and enhance the educational value of professional practitioner guest speakers. In collaboration with two partner institutions, online discussion is being initiated in a year long pilot in which students from different institutions and programmes participate in further evaluative and critical reflection on each talk's content, through online communication with the guest artist/speaker. A 'reflexive archive', includes the recorded talk and the following discussion. The aims of the project are: 1. To develop a coherent teaching and (e) learning framework for the spontaneous and diverse content of a visiting Fine Artist talks programme. 2. To extend the period of student's engagement with external professional practitioner's delivery into Art and Design teaching, and to monitor (and enhance) the pedagogic usefulness of that delivery, through student-centred reflection and discussion. 3. To develop innovative methods of delivery through online strategies that enhance and add value to existing practices. 4. To address relevant pedagogical research.
