Abstract
Very few people realise that an early film company, 'British Instructional Films', made a series of major silent films at the Regents House Film Studio, located near Surbiton Hill, during the 1920s (including war films, historical dramas and documentary features). This article provides the background story to this rather hidden aspect of the local history of Surbiton, and is also of interest to historians of general film production in London during the interwar period.
