This was a self-initiated exhibition undertaken as part of El Ultimo Grito’s Stanley Picker Fellowship. Make Believe is part of the ongoing research project through which El Ultimo Grito seek to challenge perceptions and understandings of design production and consumption, and develop their own work for production. The exhibition sought to explore the ways in which culture shapes and dictates the ways we perceive the world, the manner in which objects trigger mental spaces of personal and perceptual experience, and the ways that existing landscapes and spaces are changed and appropriated through consumption, use and disregard.
