True stories

Kelly, Ben [Designer], Khera, Paul [Designer] and Beddoes, Maria [Designer] (1998) True stories. Exhibition design.

Item Type: Design
Additional Information: Exhibition design for the British Council Touring Exhibition for "UK 98" Festival at Kita Kyushu and Tokyo Forum, Japan. The 'True Stories' exhibition featured the experiences of seven people from seven locations across the UK to demonstrate examples of dynamic cultural diversity. Kelly originated and developed this concept to portray 'Contemporary Britain'. The concept was realised through a combined curatorial/design process. He creatively combined a range of mixed media interactive CDs, maps and personal objects in a series of seven modules. In addition following specialist research into structures and fixing design, he provided a flexible and durable assembley/disassembley display system for the touring scheme (first constructed and shipped from the UK). As well as developing the concept and making the detailed specifications, Kelly managed the whole project, including shipping and translation and CD ROM production.
