This paper explored the life and fascist ideology of Major James Strachey Barnes (1890-1955), especially his attempts to portray fascism as a 'universal' creed. Barnes was a key figure behind the 'International Centre of Fascist Studies' in 1928-31, and also made radio broadcasts for the Italian Fascist regime in World War Two.
