Abstract

This paper presents a consideration of the editorial and typographic structure of the journal 'Art‐Language', and a discussion of how this specific structure was used as a vehicle for practice by the group. The analysis will be positioned against other examples of the publication in/as art practice, both from the period of conceptual art and today, through cross‐comparison of the extent to which editorial, layout and typographic strategies were, and are, essential to the operation of these publications as works of art.
