Abstract

This discussion brings together activists and academics to explore cases of speaking out and complaining about working conditions individually and collectively. We will be sharing examples of the personal, mental, physical, material and legal ingredients needed to complain and the impacts and implications. Lucy Parker presents current research from her film project Blacklist exploring the experiences of blacklisted workers with Dave Smith, a blacklisted construction worker and Secretary of the Blacklist Support Group. Henry Chango Lopez, Vice President of the Independent Workers Union discusses the 3Cosas Campaign fighting for sick pay, holiday pay and pensions for outsourced workers of the University of London.
