Abstract

In the United Kingdom deployment of wireless systems is generally a few years behind the USA. Some educational institutions have already installed wireless LANs, but many have not. The paper will discuss a pilot prototype programme which is being undertaken with a view to investigating technical, administrative, and classroom issues. Some universities have already installed wired infrastructure within lecture theatres which permit forms of interaction between the lecturers and students. Our prototype is to investigate the use of wireless systems for similar purposes.
