Additional Information: The Light Garden was commissioned by Sadler's Wells for their Family Weekend in 2010. Children enter an immersive theatre environment in the near dark armed with torches. Over a 20 minute period a canopy of sky shifts from dawn to dusk as a dancer/guides encourage the child audience to navigate the scene consisting partly of animated pebbles leading to cinematic tents and a smoldering projected campfire. A magical cave also lies waiting. The outdoor experience indoors offers opportunities too for the children to react impulsively and play with the scaled spectrum of movements in the natural world, from crawling ladybirds on a beanbag hillside to the larger phenomenon of weather over the campsite which they can control via illuminated switches.
