| Additional Information: | The collaborators were Ben Kelly Design, Studio Myerscough (graphics) and Alice Rawsthorne (curator). BKD designed furniture to house the exhibition. For an exhibition tracing the development of computer-based entertainment, BKD were asked to design furniture to house both exhibits and visitors. The show was divided into two parts; the first showcased six innovative web-site designers, with visitors invited to play their games; the second part presented a history of computer games and the retro hardware upon which they were played. In contrast to the digital and high-tech material on show, BKD employed a mix of low-tech, DIY and iconic solutions. Desks of concrete blocks and slatted softwood housed banks of monitors, while vintage hardware was protected in made-to-measure acrylic boxes; so accenting the division between the two parts of the exhibition’s narrative. | ||||||
